All rivers, even the most dazzling, those that catch the sun in their course, all rivers go down to the sea and drown. And life awaits man as the sea awaits the river.

Reality is not as pretty a picture as you have imagined.

Belabor- to worry about, explain or work more than is necessary.
Equanimity- mental or emotional stability or composure, especially under tension (inner peace)
We have a choice, we can choose to belabor an issue, which would ultimately not serve any good purpose, or we could always pray for courage to face life with equanimity.
These days i’m just living my life in a blurred, sleepy trance.
My Saturday morning was spent dancing in church, instead of just doing ballet however, Florence was pretty psyched about teaching us some simple Bolshoi dance steps so we dedicated half an hour to learning them and we were all feeling like dignified ladies in the 1870s. She shared about how in the Victorian era, they had Social Dances in which invited guests would dance with the opposite sex and in between, little flirtations would occur and that was how they interacted with each other. It could have just been really simple steps, but they were all so proper and polite. It’s quite a pity to think that it’s all just reduced to clubbing now.
After that Pei Shan, Angie and I headed to the Cozy Corner at Coronation Plaza for lunch, and I must say that the Mee Siam and Popiah are to die for. Initially we ordered only 2 Popiahs, but it was so good that we ordered another 2 more. Yum yum. We were all in high spirits after the really good lunch and so the car ride to Dover MRT station was filled with stupid jokes and light-hearted laughter.
I met WeiLin and XinHe at Redhill and we proceeded to Wei’s church for service (they had some invited speaker from UK so she invited us), the speaker was not too bad, he talked about overcoming our worries, greed and selfishness to be better people for God.
Went back and finally got down to downloading new songs, so that took up my whole night and Sunday morning. I found some pretty good bands though, so it was all worthwhile.
On Sunday, S and I decided to go on a Movie Marathon to watch What to Expect When You’re Expecting (recommended by my mum) and Dark Shadows (it’s a Johnny Depp and Tim Burton show, and we’ve been talking about watching it for quite some time). They’re both pretty okay movies, the first about different women getting babies for the first time and having to deal with all the problems babies come with, and the latter about vampires. We weren’t really expecting much for Dark Shadows because it had pretty bad reviews, but it was overall better than we expected. The characters were a mix of mysterious and funny, and they portrayed the stereotype of vampires in a way that made it comedic.
After 4 hours plus of movies, we treated ourselves to Starbucks and just chatted over our tea. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the books ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ and ‘Looking for Alaska’ so we went to the library in search of them. We couldn’t find them though so he asked his sister (with a vast library of books) whether she had them and thankfully she did! He got the books for me and we made our way back. It was such a lovely and breezy night to just walk around and so we did just that, with little conversation since we were both just enjoying it.
I realised that I’ve grown pretty comfortable with him and I’ve shared so many things with him, from my latest book and music to my personal problems that I’m really thankful God has placed him in my life. It’s nice to have a close guy friend around and I hope this friendship lasts at least through secondary school.
On a sad sidenote though, school is starting in less than 7 hours and this whole week will be Chinese intensive. I’ve been slacking and relaxing these past 2 weeks and I really hope to just settle down and start studying soon. Chinese is going to drain me out, but I’m going to try to at least start something and get a sort of momentum going.
Jiayou to all the Express Chinese students, with how hard you guys are working for Chinese, I’m certain that you can do it! Just continue working hard these 2 weeks, gogogo all the way!

Happy Sonia with her two new reads!
